Celebrating 18 Years of LIVE!
Eighteen years. What began in 2007 as a bold vision for contemporary, performance-based music education has blossomed into a vibrant, thriving community of musicians, learners, performers, and dreamers. Today we celebrate not just a milestone, but our journey, every student, every rehearsal, every moment of stepping on stage.
The Early Days
Back in 2007, founder Juan Pablo Diaz bought a small, conventional music academy in North Miami and transformed it. He recognised that music education needed a shift—one that embraced modern bands, real-world performance opportunities, collaboration, and creativity beyond old-school tradition.
From those early hours in a modest hallway with a few practice rooms, we set out with one big goal: to make music meaningful, fun, and authentic.
Growth, Community & Performance
Over the years, LIVE! opened two locations (North Miami and Hallandale) and developed programs for ages 7 through 18—starting with the “Debut” for ages 7-8 and advancing into our “Creative Music Industry” and Instrument Labs programs.
What sets us apart is our commitment: every student performs. Every semester. Whether through live showcases, studio sessions, or ensembles. We believe music isn’t just learned—it’s lived. Our community testimonials speak volumes:
“Through Live!, my daughter has been on stage with Pink Floyd, has been hired for paid studio work, and got a scholarship to attend Berklee’s 5-week summer program.” – Fernando Subirats
“Live! provides students with a safe environment to express themselves through music. Teachers are professional, enthusiastic, and encouraging.” – Sol Colom
Why This Matters
In a world where music and creativity can sometimes feel formulaic, we’ve stayed true to our mission: performance-based, real-world music training. We teach guitar, bass, drums, keys, voice, songwriting, production, with real bands, real stages, real recording.
Beyond instruments and skills, we foster confidence, community, creativity. We watch young musicians go from tentative first steps to rocking on stage. That transformation, that light in a student’s eyes when the songs come alive, is why we do this.
Thank You
To our students (past and present), families, faculty, and staff: thank you. This 18-year journey has been shaped by each one of you. The laughs in rehearsal rooms, the adrenaline before a show, the friendships formed over riffs and rhythms, all of it is part of our story.
And to all who have trusted LIVE! with their musical growth, thank you for believing in our vision. Thank you for letting us be part of your story.
Looking Ahead
Eighteen is just the beginning. The next chapter will bring more innovation, more performance, more community. We’ll keep pushing boundaries, opening doors, writing songs, hitting stages. Because music never stops, and neither do we.
